Lucknow: Bhatkhande Sanskriti University, Lucknow, organised a programme dedicated to the importance of Hindi language and its rich literary tradition on the occasion of Hindi Diwas. The event was held at the Sujan Auditorium, where students presented poetry recitations and creative expressions reflecting their engagement with Hindi.
Head of the Department of Percussion Dr Manoj Kumar Mishra delivered a lecture on the significance of Hindi. He said Hindi was not merely a medium of communication but also an important language connecting Indian culture, literature and emotional unity. He encouraged students to use Hindi more extensively and develop an interest in studying Hindi literature.
The programme featured several poetry recitations. Khushi, a first-semester BPA student, presented her self-written poem Kabhi Bichhde. Shivam Maurya, a third-semester MPA student, recited Shivmangal Singh ‘Suman’s’ well-known poem Vardaan Maangunga Nahin. BPA student Vinod Kumar presented a poem by Kumar Vishwas, while BPA student Adarsh Pathak presented the satirical poem Hindi Se Hi Sharmate Hain, prompting the audience to reflect on attitudes towards the Hindi language.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Mandavi Singh extended her greetings on Hindi Diwas and emphasised the importance of incorporating Hindi language and literature into the teaching and learning of music and the arts. She said students should develop sensitivity and appreciation for Hindi literature.
Registrar Atul Kumar said Hindi was not only a means of expression but also a strong link to Indian culture and traditions. He added that such literary and cultural programmes provide students with a platform to showcase their creativity while fostering interest and respect for the language.
The programme was conducted by guest faculty member Dr Kajal Ojha, while the vote of thanks was delivered by guest faculty member Dr Gyan Singh Patel. University faculty members Devanand Pandey and Chandni Yadav, along with students, attended the event. Students participated enthusiastically, showcasing their literary interests and creative abilities in an atmosphere marked by enthusiasm and appreciation for Hindi language and literature.
